Buyers act on suppliers they trust. Precision Matching, available to Coupa Verified subscribers, helps you increase your visibility during buyer search and sourcing across the Coupa ecosystem by strengthening that trust.

Precision Matching builds buyer trust in three core ways:
  • Verified Identity: Confirms your business identity so buyers know you are legitimate.

  • Verified Financials: Validates your business bank account to reduce fraud risk and ensure payment readiness.

  • Accurate Representation: Defines exactly which commodities, keywords, and service regions you cover, helping you surface for sourcing events you can actually fulfill and win.

Precision Matching allows you to transparently demonstrate that you are a Verified, qualified supplier who fits what buyers need.

Eligibility and requirements

All suppliers can access the Matching tab and set up a draft match. However, to pass internal review and activate your match live on the platform, your account must meet the following minimum profile quality requirements:
  1. Coupa Verified subscription: You must be an active Verified supplier to activate your matches.

For more information, see Programs for You.

  2. Complete Profile: Fill out your Company Description, Logo, Industry, Primary Address, Tax ID, PO Email Address, Areas Serviced, and Commodities.

For more information see Create and Manage Your Business Profile in the CSP.

  3. Legal Entity: At least one active legal entity must be added to your profile.

For more information, see Set Up Legal Entities in the CSP.

  4. Valid Bank Account: A valid business bank account must be on file. This is required to validate financial authenticity, reduce fraud risk, and confirm that your business is fully equipped for seamless payment processing.

For more information, see View and Manage Payment Methods Information in the CSP.

Key features and the Network Engine

To access Precision Matching, navigate to the Profile > Matching sub-tab.

At the top of the page, the Network Engine provides key insights into your prospective reach:

  • Top Active Countries: Regional breakdown showing how broad or targeted your match parameters are.

  • Addressable Market Size (coming soon)

  • Estimated Impressions (coming soon)

How to Set Up a Match

  1. Set Name and Time Frame
    • Match Name: Give your match a clear, descriptive label so you can easily manage it within your match list.

    • Dates (coming soon): Start and end dates will be configurable in a future update. Currently, all newly submitted matches are held for internal review prior to activation.

  2. Select Products and Services
    • Select Commodities: Choose the specific commodities that accurately align with your core business offerings.

    • Select Keywords: Add relevant search terms to help describe your products or services.

    • Product Catalog: Upload an applicable catalog if available to support your match details.

  3. Pick Service Regions
    • Select Areas Serviced: Select the geographic regions your business actively serves.

Note: Best Practice: Keep these regions aligned with your official business profile. Selecting service areas outside your operational capabilities risks hurting your credibility with prospective buyers.
  4. Matching Rules (coming soon)
    • In upcoming releases, you will be able to set custom inclusion and exclusion rules based on industry types, customer search criteria, and specific event types (such as RFQs, RFPs, or Auctions).

Review process and best practices

Once you submit your match criteria, it enters an internal Review Stage to verify accuracy and compliance before going live.

Usage and Integrity Guidelines

Precision Matching is designed to foster genuine connections between qualified suppliers and buyers. To maintain platform integrity:
  • Buyer Privacy Protection: Buyer data and private sourcing criteria remain strictly confidential and secure.

  • Accurate Representation: Ensure selected commodities, keywords, and service regions accurately reflect your actual capabilities. Avoid misrepresenting your business coverage or keyword stuffing.

  • Compliance Enforcement: Accounts that attempt to manipulate match parameters or misrepresent business coverage will have their matches flagged and risk forfeiting the ability to create future matches.

Note:

Coupa may restrict, suspend, or gate participation in Precision Matching based on Verification, risk, compliance, or buyer preferences. Verification does not guarantee selection or contract award.
