E-Invoicing Compliance Enhancements for South Korea

Coupa Invoicing introduced a new self-service feature in the Coupa Supplier Portal (CSP). You can upload your official PKI Digital Certificate directly into your CSP account. This one-time setup automates the digital signing and submission of your tax invoices to the National Tax Service (NTS), eliminating previous technical conflicts with local gateways like SmartBill. This enhancement allows you to manage all invoicing and compliance activities in a single, unified portal.

Note: For this automated e-invoicing capability to work, your account must be active on Release 46.3

Setup configuration

Follow these simple steps to configure your digital certificate in CSP:

1: Access compliance setup

  1. Log into your Coupa Supplier Portal (CSP) account.

  2. Go to Setup in the top navigation bar.

  3. Select CaaS Information (Compliance-as-a-Service).

Add Additional CaaS Information dialog with fields to upload Certificate (.der) and Private Key (.key) files and enter a password

2: Enter your credentials

Field Name Description
Business Registration Number (BRN) Enter your official 10-digit primary tax ID.
PKI Public Key File Upload your official signCert.der file.
PKI Private Key File Upload your official signPri.key file.
Certificate Password Enter the password associated with your private key.

Step 3: Save and activate

Click Save. Your certificate will be validated and registered automatically, enabling immediate automated e-invoice signing.

Security and data protection

Your security is our top priority. Certificate files and passwords uploaded to CSP are base64-encoded and encrypted using enterprise-grade security standards before transmission. Credentials are stored in secured database vaults solely for applying required NTS digital signatures.

Considerations for existing suppliers:

No action is required if you are an existing supplier already using SmartBill authentication to submit South Korean e-invoices. Your current process will continue to work without interruption.

The new, direct PKI certificate upload process is only for:

  1. Suppliers registering for South Korean e-invoicing for the first time.

  2. Existing suppliers who choose to migrate from SmartBill authentication to direct certificate management in Coupa.
